Santiago, Still – 4/22/2013

Yesterday was just a bust. We moved hotels from the Eurotel, they were booked solid for the coming week. We moved into the Ibis (our trusty Ibis hotels – en suite, please), a few kilometers down the street for the night. They are booked for thye rest of the week also. No matter, we have to go somewhere. We’ve done Santiago.
We spend the day just wasting time – catching up on the blog, finding a sim card for my modem. Some short walks around the area. Anything to fight the growing frustration the we haven’t gotten the car and we don’t know when we are going to get it.
The high point is dinner in the Ligori bar just a block up the street. It’s a gorgeous art deco bar with black and white checked floor, crazy wall ornaments and great blues on the house music system. We have some great food and a couple of bottles of great wine.
And meet an American couple that live in Chile. They suggest that we head down to Santa Cruz to explore the wine region. John’s been there before and it sounds like a great idea. Anything is better than just waiting here.
Tomorrow, we head south for a day trip.
