April 2nd – Happy Valley/Goose Bay, Newfoundland
Apr 4th, 2018 by rallyadmin
It’s another beautiful day in Paradise, Arctic version. Blue, cloudless sky. But cold and windy.
I haven’t heard anything yet about the truck from the shop so at about 11 I walk over to enquire. It’s a “brisk” walk but I need a walk after sitting for the last 10 days. But the walk ends in disappointment. The truck is still where it was left Saturday night.
Scott, behind the counter of the Avis Rent-a-Car/tow truck headquarters/auto parts shop/auto repair facility. Says that he’ll get it in the shop right after lunch when more staff arrive. He’ll call when he knows more. Which leads to still another problem.
My mobile has never successfully connected to the mobile network here in Happy Valley/Goose Bay. I call ATT and they fool around with resets and network diagnostics but, in the end, they don’t solve the problem. Fortunately, cell over wifi is working so I can make calls and send texts. Since, I gave my mobile number to Scott, I’m just hoping that I’ll get a call.
M/M stop by from their hotel (they couldn’t get a room for Sunday night at the Royal Inn) to pick me up for dinner. We stop by the shop and the truck has been moved but no news from Scott and they are closed for the day. I don’t know if they didn’t call me of if they did, the call didn’t get to my phone.
Whatever. I’ll check in the morning. No news isn’t good news. It’s just no news.
